Trees and Whittling!

This morning, our Reception class embarked on an exciting adventure at Forest School.

The children began by saying hello to our beautiful lime tree and then set out to identify the silver birch and hawthorn trees in our forest. We played a thrilling game of hide and seek, Forest School style, which brought lots of laughter and excitement.

There were plenty of activities to choose from, catering to every child's interest. Some children made seed balls, helped with planting bulbs and herbs, and even wove some of our fence around the wildflower area. Others enjoyed exploring the sand pit, playing with dough, and discovering mini beasts—worms were a particular delight! Some children worked with Mrs. K to start learning how to whittle sticks, turning them into all sorts of creations, including lava sticks. The hammocks were also a popular spot for relaxation.

Additionally, some children had a blast creating a huge bridge across the grass, while others enjoyed exploding potion-making using syringes, pipettes, and squirty bottles. To wrap up our morning, we shared a delicious snack together and played a fun game of "Stick, Stick, Fire." It was truly a morning filled with joy, exploration, and learning.
