Forest School Fun: A Morning of Adventure and Learning

This morning's Forest School session for our Reception Group (RG) was filled with excitement and discovery.

We started by greeting our lime tree with a cheerful "good morning" from all the children. The session was packed with engaging activities that encouraged perseverance, creativity, and teamwork. The children showed remarkable determination while learning to tie knots, with some even running out of string on their knot frames! We also enjoyed listening to the  sounds of the wind in the tent, creating a relaxing atmosphere.

During choosing time, the children were free to explore their interests. Some tested their balance on the slack line and expressed their creativity in the sand pit. Others were busy in the mud kitchen, crafting their own recipes, or on bug hunts, exploring the natural world. In the water area, children experimented with tools to move and squirt water, even rescuing plastic fish who handy got any water.  Meanwhile, loose parts were used for creative building, showcasing the children's imagination and resourcefulness.

The morning was also filled with various crafts and games. Flags, bird feeders, and giant bubbles were crafted with enthusiasm. Hide and seek in the bird hide was a thrilling experience, and some practised throwing pine cones. There was also an opportunity to try whittling with Mrs. K. After all the excitement, we enjoyed snack in the bell tent, followed by a fun game of "stick stick fire" in the fire circle.

Throughout the session, many activities focused on building hand, elbow, and shoulder strength, as well as fine motor skills. The morning was filled with perseverance, resilience, conversations, and creativity, making it a truly enriching experience for all. It was wonderful to see the children engage so fully with nature and each other, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
