Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of our topic about celebrations and also linking into past events in your children’s lives and memorable moments please could you send in:
1. a baby or toddler photograph of your child.
2. a photograph of a milestone in their lives e.g. a birthday, a first swimming badge, a house move etc
Please could you ensure the photographs are clearly labelled with your children’s name and class.
These photographs will be shared with their class friends and we are planning on having some fun guessing who the babies/ toddlers are in the photographs.
Can all photographs be in by Friday 22nd November please?
Also we will be junk modelling for the next few weeks so can we please have any clean cardboard boxes, plastic containers, rolls etc that would be fun for the children to use.
Thank you for your continued support.

Dear class RGD,

The sessions will begin next Friday - 1st March 2024. There will be 5 sessions in total, 4 before Easter and the final session being Friday 12th April. The school calendar has been updated with the dates.

Forest School Clothing
A part of the ethos of Forest School is “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing”. With comfortable and appropriate clothing, all children can enjoy the Forest School experience in all weathers.
It is recommended that all children wear the following kit for the days they take part in Forest School.
Boots – we find that a good pair of walking boots are much better than Wellington boots. Plastic wellies offer very poor insulation and children’s feet quickly get cold. If they must wear wellies, then several pairs of socks are essential. Please ensure they have other shoes to change into when they have finished their session.
Long trousers – both in summer and winter, to keep warm and to protect from scratches, bites and sunburn.
Long sleeved top – both in summer and winter, to keep warm and to protect from scratches, bites and sunburn.
Hat (for sun or warmth depending on the season) and gloves.
Layers of clothing appropriate to the temperature and the season – in winter the children will need at least three layers to keep warm. It is best to avoid cotton next to the skin as it absorbs water. It is always better to be hot and take layers off, then to be cold with nothing to put on!
These should be old clothes or clothes that parents/carers do not mind getting dirty.
Please send your child’s uniform in with them in a bag, so they can change should their Forest School clothes become dirty/wet
School will provide waterproof trousers and waterproof coats where needed.
Many thanks,
Mrs Gould and Mrs Day

EYFS Trip to Warley Methodist Church Thursday 7th March 2024

- EYFS Warley Methodist Church Trip - March 2024.pdf
Dear RB Parent/Carer,
We are having a fabulous time in our Forest School sessions. As the weather is becoming significantly colder, can you please ensure that your child comes to school prepared in several layers of clothing, the warmest coat that they have, gloves, hats and and extra pair of thick woolly socks for wellies. If your child needs to wear school wellies, they still require an extra pair of thick socks. Please send your child with an extra pair of shoes as it is not possible for them to wear wellies/outdoor shoes in class due to the wet and mud.
When we go into the forest the ideal way to layer clothing is; long sleeved T-shirt, Fleece or jumper, if your child is likely to feel the cold then please add extra layers, it's much better for them to be too warm rather than too cold. Leggings underneath tracksuit bottoms is a good way to keep legs warm.
We are doing everything we can to keep everyone warm through exciting activities, movement and our heated Bell tent, however, it is a lot colder and more layers will help the children get the most out of this fantastic experience.
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss Bevan and Mrs Kentish

Dear Parent/carer
The children have been working very hard with phonics and blending to read. After Christmas, in January, we will be starting Reading Afternoons on a Friday. This will enable the Class Teacher to listen to every child read. There will also be a range of reading and comprehension activities for the children to complete independently. Can you please ensure that your child brings their reading books to school every Friday, in addition to the day that they have them changed. We would ask that you continue to read with your children at home and to develop and foster a love of reading.
The first Reading Afternoon will be Friday 12th January 2024.
Just to confirm RGD book change Monday, RB book change Tuesday, RH book change Thursday. All classes to bring books every Friday.
Have a great holiday and see you in the New Year.
Reception Teachers.
