Native Hedge Planting
The Eco Council at our school has made a fantastic contribution to the environment by planting 30 meters of mixed native hedgerow in our forest school site!
With saplings provided by the Woodland Trust, students worked in three teams to plant five-meter segments together with regular forest school staff Mrs Kentish, Mrs Benham and Mrs Becki. This teamwork sparked fabulous conversations and a sense of community.
As the hedgerow grows, it will create vital habitats and food sources for local wildlife, enhancing biodiversity on our site. The saplings include elder, hawthorn, blackthorn, dog rose, crab apple, and holly—all native species that will thrive in our area. Watch out for more planting projects to help increase our biodiversity and provide habitats and food.
Great job, Eco Council! 🌳🌼
